You are right, classic cars cannot be as good and comfortable as new and modern vehicles. But their simplicity and engine sound can make classic cars a lot of fun to drive.
Aiming to be as comprehensive as possible, we’ve compiled a short list of the ten most classic sports cars that are totally fun to drive. Not all of these classic cars will interest you, but there are one or two that grab your attention and make your heart beat.
1- DeTomaso Pantera
One of De Tomaso’s cars, the Pantera, is an Italian mid-engine sports car produced from 1971 to 1992, a viable alternative to similar Lamborghinis and Ferraris of the same era, with its Italian styling and robust Ford V8 engine.
2 – Jaguar E-Type
Between 1961 and 1975 Jaguar produced the E-Type, dubbed “the most beautiful car ever built” by Enzo Ferrari, a classic sports car that has been well known since the 1960s. The blend of aesthetics and performance is unrivaled. The model has become an automobile icon thanks to its innovative design and affordable price.
3 – Lamborghini Miura
He produced the Lamborghini Miura between 1966 and 1973. Few cars like the Miura have had such an impact on the automotive world. The famous automaker’s two-seater reinvented the sports car concept with its mid-mounted V12 engine and interesting design.
4 – Rolls-Royce Dawn Drophead
Launched in 1949 and retired in 1954, the original Silver Dawn Drophead was based on Rolls-Royce’s first full-size car since the war. The Rolls-Royce Dawn Drophead marked the beginning of a new era in the world.
5 – Mercedes SL 300 Gull Wing
In 1954, the Mercedes SL 300 Gullwing was the fastest production car of its time. The world’s first mass-production champion sports car with direct fuel injection, the SL 300 could reach speeds of up to 160 mph.
6- Ferrari 250 GTO
Ferrari produced the Ferrari 250 GTO between 1962 and 1964. The 250 GTO competes against the Shelby Cobra and Aston Martin DP214 in the Group 3 GT race. It’s kind of ecstasy to drive this Ferrari GTO.
7 – Ferrari 250 gtovia
It’s pointless to exaggerate the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO. It was the first of the Series II bodies and one of the last (thirty-six) Ferrari GTOs ever produced. It has a 3.0L V-12 engine producing around 300 horsepower and has won several endurance races including the 1964 Daytona Continental 2000km, the Sebring 12h and the Nassau TT.
8 – Aston Martin DB4
In 1958, the new automobile debuted at the London Motor Show, sharing a stand with the DB Mark III, which remained in production for over a year. The Aston Martin DB4 was the first car to exceed 100 mph in under 30 seconds, claiming to do so in 21 seconds.
9- Shelby GT350
The Shelby GT350 is a high-efficiency sports car manufactured by Shelby from 1965 to 1967 and Ford from 1968 to 1970. The Shelby GT350 was one of the best descendants of the Ford Mustang, which was also called Cobra. This sports car was designing and a darling of the late ’60s.
10- Ferrari 308 GTS
The Ferrari 308 GTS is a two-seater V8 mid-engine sports vehicle produced from 1975 to 1985. In 1975, the 308 GT and GTS replaced the Dino 246 GT and GTS, and in 1985, it was revised as the 328 GTB/GTS .
11 – Lamborghini Diablo
Between 1990 and 2001, Lamborghini produced the Diablo, a high-performance mid-engine sports car. It is the first production Lamborghini to reach a top speed of more than 200 mph.
