İbrahim Seven (51), who bought a 1947 model American-made car in Antalya for 100 thousand liras, costing 450 thousand liras and regained its first day appearance in 18 months, attracted great attention on the streets he wandered while listening to nostalgic music in his 75-year-old car.
Living in the city center, İbrahim Seven noticed the American-made 1947 model DeSoto brand car used by his father in the past, while examining the advertisements for vehicles for sale due to his interest in the classic automobile. Seven, who went to Istanbul 3 years ago to see the car, bought the car from its 45-year-old owner for 100 thousand liras. Seven, who brought the unusable car, which was damaged in the course of time and decayed in some parts, to Antalya with a tow truck, struggled for 18 months to repair it. Visiting the master in the industry every day during the repair process, Seven used original parts and transformed his car, which cost 450 thousand liras, to its original state.
After his car was repaired, Seven started to wander around the streets of Antalya and attracted the attention of other drivers in traffic with his 75-year-old vehicle. Seven, who showed great interest for those who want to take photos while driving in traffic, stated that his greatest pleasure is to walk around the streets with his son Bekir while listening to nostalgic music in his car.
Explaining that his car attracted a lot of attention, Seven said that some drivers bargained to buy it. Mentioning that classic car enthusiasts offered 2 million liras to buy the car, and someone else offered 2 houses, Seven said that he did not intend to sell his car, which he called ‘like my son’.
Stating that the car was unusable when he bought it from its 45-year-old owner 3 years ago, and that there was a rot on its base and door, Seven said:
“After 18 months of industrial repair, I restored my car to its original state. It becomes the center of attention in traffic. There are those who honk, greet and take pictures. My brother and my relatives also have a love for American-made classic cars. It was the car my father used in the past. There were those who offered me a million lira, 2 houses, a luxury car. The cost is 550 thousand liras, but I do not intend to sell it. I look at it like a child. I don’t know what will show in the future, an American-made classic car is my passion. If I sell it, I will want to buy a classic car again. I can’t find such a beautiful one. “I wonder who brought the car to Turkey first. I couldn’t reach him. I continue to search.”
