There are few cars that have the class of the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB. A close relative of the most expensive car in the world, it is a clear representative of the elegance of sports cars from the middle of the last century thanks to those suggestive shapes of a coupé with a long nose and a large engine under the hood. Currently the trends are different and it is difficult for similar vehicles to arrive, although Forge Design has wanted to break schemes. The British company presents its Ventidue Competitiona modern representation of that cavallino with some interesting additions.

We are not talking about a restoration like that of GTO Engineering’s 250 GT SWB California Spyder, it is a new project that he wants to maintain details of the past mixed with features of the present. It is inspired by the “Comp 61” variant, with its configuration for competition thanks to a lighter chassis and a slimmer aluminum bodywork (the original was 1.1mm). In this case, it will be made of carbon fiber and will maintain a design with the main lines of the original and some changes to adapt to current times.
For example, it can be seen that in the Competizione Ventidue the wheel arches are wider and the front and rear air intakes have been removed. That’s reminiscent of early 250 GT SWB prototypes. The headlights use modern led lighting, with all the functions agglutinated in the same unit. On the other hand, the rims are made of magnesium in the Ferrari Campagnolo style, but larger, and hide an AP Racing braking system. The rear window is polycarbonate to maintain that weight savings.

No pictures of the interior have been shown, but it is hoped that some modern functionality will also be added to this copy. The most striking thing is probably the engine, since it maintains the original block, but with important modifications. The V12 works with iindirect hydrogen injection to reduce its emissions, a technique similar to the one Toyota is employing. Its specifications have not been given, but we expect more power judging by the modifications to the chassis.

Little remains of the original SEFAC Hot Rod Type 539/61 chassis, here we see a new aluminum and carbon fiber architecture who receives a fully independent suspension. In any case, we still have to see how the Competizione Ventidue project ends. It is currently in development phase and there is no release date. Neither price, although we can expect a really high rate taking into account its characteristics.
