There’s a new Honda Accord and it’s a shame it’s not coming to Europe

Although it may not seem like it, more than five years have passed since the honda accord It is not sold in our continent. It was in 2015 when the Japanese firm decided to withdraw one of its most important models from the European market. It should not be forgotten that the Accord has been on sale for four decades and has seen a dozen generations… Both the sedan and the station wagon have disappeared from here, but they are still very present in other places. In fact, the Accord also it keeps updating masterfully.

Its eleventh generation has already been presented in the United States, which improves in many aspects and adapts to the times. Receive a aesthetic face lift through details such as a new vertical grille or darkened LED headlights. Logically, the bumpers have been redesigned, new tires and other details. Its fluid lines and those fastback shapes at the rear already show that its dimensions have grown slightly. It is 7.1 centimeters longer than its predecessor and that will result in a more livable interior

The new Honda Accord stand out for space, having a legroom of 103.6 centimeters and a trunk of 473 liters, offering unprecedented roominess. They speak of good quality thanks to the use of better materials and a slight redistribution of the elements to favor ergonomics. The cabin also receives an apparent evolution thanks to renewed technology. It has a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation and a 12.3-inch main touch screen, the largest that the Japanese firm has. There is no lack of complete connectivity and all kinds of facilities.

Although, without a doubt, a fundamental point of its new generation is the mechanical range. In the United States it is advertised with two engines that are quite well known. On the one hand, there is the 1.5 Turbo four-cylinder, the same one that the Civic previously mounted and that now delivers 192 CV linked to the CVT change. But there is also a AccordHybrid which uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine that is linked to two electrical blocks and a PCU. It works in a similar way to our Civic e:HEV and its power is 204 hp.

Therefore, we are left with the question of why they will not bring this Honda Accord to Europe, precisely now that it is available in hybrid format and that it could benefit from the DGT ECO label and be part of the electrified range of the Japanese brand. It also benefits from a chassis upgrade in terms of rigidity and that updates both the suspension and the steering to be one of the benchmarks in the segment.
