Ninth podium of the season for Carlos Sainz the one achieved in Brazilian Grand Prix. This, obtained thanks to a hard overtaking of Sergio Pérez that earned him the third position in Interlagos.
The race started very well for the pilot of ferrari, opting for the podium coming back from seventh position. Nevertheless, a tear off (one of the visors that can be removed from the helmet) got caught in the rear wheel and was forced to stop in the pits, which ruled out his options to climb into the box.
But luck smiled on him. lando norris broke his engine and caused a Safety Car that allowed him put on a much cooler soft tire than the used ones worn by Pérez. However, he had to work hard on overtaking.
The Red Bull driver strongly defended his position, but it was a matter of time before Sainz passed. Y he did it in turn 4with some ease after several attempts and quickly created enough space to secure third place…until pressure came from charles leclerc.
The Monegasque was far away, four seconds behind the Spanish, but repeatedly asked Ferrari to let Carlos pass to get more points for the runner-up that the ’16’ has at stake with ‘Checo’.
