The company installs hundreds of new Superchargers each month.
Electric car maker Tesla has Supercharger charging stations in many parts of the world. These stations, which allow Tesla users to easily charge their vehicles, are increasing in number with each passing day. With their latest statement, the company claimed that they have reached a new critical threshold.
In the publication made by Tesla on its Twitter accounts, it was indicated that the number of Superchargers worldwide has reached 40,000. This figure is about 10,000 more than the company’s data a year ago, which is 5,000 more than the 35,000 announced in June.
Regarding the number of stations, we think that there are approximately 4,500 units. It is claimed that there are more than 4,300 stations in the third quarter of 2022. Among the reasons for the increase in the number of these stations is the increase in demand for Tesla. Especially increases in sales lead the company to establish new stations.
The company’s first Supercharger station was installed in September 2012 with the introduction of the Tesla Model S. The number of Superchargers has changed from the past to the present as follows:
1: September 2012
10,000: June 2018
20,000: November 2020
30,000: November 2021 (+10,000 in 1 year)
35,000: June 2022 (+5,000 in approximately 7 months)40,000: November 2022 (+10,000 in 1 year)
Thanks to top-of-the-line V3 Supercharger devices, the vehicles can be charged up to 250 kW. Superchargers with different connectors are available in many parts of the world. Earlier this month, the company announced the connector it uses in its devices in North America and some regions as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). It is unknown at this time if NACS will actually become a North American standard.
