Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Polo and Virtus stand out in LatinNCAP tests

LatinNCAP, the New Vehicle Assessment Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, has just tested the Volkswagen Virtusimported from India especially for Mexico, Toyota Corolla and the redesigned Volkswagen Polo, and these are the results they obtained in terms of safety for their occupants and pedestrians.

Toyota Corolla: 5 Stars

The Toyota Corolla, produced in Brazil, offers 7 airbags and Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment since 2017.

Results Toyota Coriolla LatinNCAP 2022

    • 83.31% in Adult Occupant
    • 91.84% in Child Occupant
    • 59.72% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users
    • 81.57% in Security Assistance

The model was evaluated for the fifth time by voluntary decision of the manufacturer and the result is valid for all production sources. In 2019 the current version of the Corolla obtained five stars for Adult and Child Occupant Protection under the previous Latin NCAP protocol. At that time, security assistance technologies as well as pedestrian protection were evaluated with the aim of evaluating the model under the next and more demanding protocol.

The model was evaluated in frontal impact, side impact, pole side impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, city and high- speed Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Support Systems (LDW, LKA and RED) and ESC.

Volkswagen Polo: 3 Stars

The renewal of the Volkswagen Polo presented this year in Brazil, achieved three stars. The hatchback offers 4 airbags (it does not have the curtain ones) and the ESP.

    • 73.2% in Adult Occupant
    • 71.3% in Child Occupant
    • 51.4% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users
    • 58.1% in Security Assistance.

LatinNCAP says:

“The model was evaluated for frontal impact, side impact, pole side impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, and ESC. The unavailability of ADAS and curtain airbag technologies mainly limited the model to obtain a better rating. The model was evaluated by voluntary decision of the manufacturer.”

Volkswagen Virtus 2023: 5 Stars

 

The renewal of the Volkswagen Virtus, was evaluated in the version imported from India that is currently marketed in Mexico and offers 6 airbags, in addition to everything required by law in our country.

    • 92.3% Adult Occupant
    • 91.8% in Child Occupant
    • 53.0% in Protection of Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users
    • 84.9% in Security Assistance.

LatinNCAP says:

“The model was evaluated for frontal impact, side impact, pole side impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, city and high speed AEB, and ESC. The model was evaluated by voluntary decision of the manufacturer. Latin NCAP evaluates the most basic version in passive safety equipment of the models and recommends that consumers purchase the versions equipped with ADAS technologies evaluated and with good performance.”
