Bentley’s History
Bentley is a British luxury car manufacturer and a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. Bentley was founded on 18 January 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley. The company initially only produced engines and chassis, but began to produce luxury cars after the First World War when they began to produce aircraft engines.
In 1931 it was purchased by Rolls-Royce and similar models were produced by the same technical team until 1998. In 1998 it was sold to Volkswagen for £430 million and in 2005 it sold 3654 in the United States and a total of 8627 cars. Bentley’s headquarters and factory are located in Cheshire near Manchester with 6 victories in the Le Mans races.
Bentley Motors produced the same models with the same technical team between 1931 and 1998. In 1998, it was sold to Volkswagen for 430 million pounds. So even though it’s technically a British car brand, it’s actually owned and operated by German car brand Volkswagen. Therefore, the current owners are Germans. In 2005, they sold a total of 8627 cars, including 3654 in the United States.
The main headquarters and factory are located in Cheshire, near Manchester.When you look at the cars they’ve made over their 94-year history, their first car model was the 1922 Indianapolis 500. It is true that they were founded in 1919. But for the first three years, they only produced airplane engines. At the end of three years, they finally managed to produce their own cars under their own brands.
