American truck manufacturer recalls its vehicles due to a problem with the tailgate
Stellantis is recalling 1.23 million Ram pickups. The models that will be recalled due to improperly locked tailgates have the production years of 2019 and 2022. An estimated 120,759 Ram trucks will be recalled in Canada, 26,613 in Mexico, and 27,404 in other markets.
It is among the information given that the problem is related to a component in the back cover lock mechanism, thus preventing the back cover from locking. In addition, these covers can be opened in some way during delivery and can cause damage to vehicles that have just come out of the factory.
The Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models produced between 2019 and 2022 are among the vehicles included in the recall program. Models with a multifunctional tailgate are not included in the recall program.
Although recall programs have now become routine, the RAM brand launched a second recall program in less than a month. In mid-November, around 250,000 pickups were recalled. This recall program, covering the 2500 and 3500HD models, was made because the vehicles could pose a fire risk.
Pickup models offered with a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine and 69RFE transmission were at risk of fire due to excessive heat. The recall program made by RAM covers models produced in the 2020 model year.
