Chery’s main products are passenger cars, minivans and SUVs, with passenger cars sold under the Chery brand and commercial vehicles sold under the Karry brand. Chery is the tenth-largest Chinese-based automobile company by annual production output of 590,000 vehicles in 2012.

Chery began manufacturing automobiles in 1999, and began exporting them in 2001. Chery has been China’s largest exporter of passenger cars since 2003.In the 16 years since its inception, Chery has independently developed a slowly comprehensive technical and product R&D system, and has produced well-known brands such as Fulwin, QQ, Eastar, Tiggo and Arrizo; it has a global reputation in 80 countries and regions.

In the first half of 2014, Chery achieved sales of more than 4.5 million, including 1 million in accumulated exports, ranking first among Chinese passenger car manufacturers.
Chery vehicles are produced predominantly in China. Chery set up its facility in Iran in 2003, and in 2005 saw the QQ in production at Modiran Vehicle Manufacturing Company. A second Chery facility also became operational in 2005.
Chery plans to begin production in Malaysia towards the end of 2006, and to see its vehicles produced under the Speranza brand at the former Daewoo Motor facility in Maddi – Cairo.Chery has entered into an agreement with Socma, a Mauricio Macri-owned company, to shape Chery Mercosur and to produce the QQ and Tiggo in Montevideo, Uruguay from 2007 onwards. Chery is also planning to set up a facility in the United States after selling over one million vehicles there.
