Practically from its presentation there were doubts about the future of the Mercedes-AMG One. The most powerful model of the brand was presented in 2017 with the premise of bringing Formula 1 technology directly to the roads. Its production was delayed due to various problems during the development phase, but the first units are finally being delivered . And it is just announced that this specimen has been placed as the fastest production vehicle at the Nürburgring with tremendous weather.
The Mercedes-AMG One gets a record by doing 6:35.183 minutes in the Green Hell, taking quite a few seconds from the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR that he had treasured since 2018. And that the track conditions were not ideal. The pilot Maro Engel He was in charge of getting behind the wheel of the supercar on October 28 with some wet and dirty areas that did not allow him to get his full potential. Although he had already broken the record, he went for one last attempt to improve and manage to cover the 20.832 km of the track in such an outstanding time.

It was a curious record attempt, with Mercedes-AMG carrying two vehicles and with the possibility of giving only four fast laps due to track conditions. The effectiveness was total and no more laps were necessary. The One broke all the records with the same specification with which it is going to hit the roads. The pilot did it with the Race Plus driving mode to achieve maximum downforce, get the car closer to the ground and get all the power available. In total there are 1,063 CV when combining its different engines.
Do not forget that the Mercedes-AMG One has a 1.6-litre V6 derived from Formula single-seaters1 which joins four electric motors (one on each wheel) and an 8.4 kWh battery. In its data sheet appear an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 200 km / h in 7 seconds and from 0 to 300 km / h in 15.6 seconds; while its top speed is limited to 352 km/h. In the record it was also important the use of DRS in the ideal areas to get the most out of it. Engel had to optimally manage energy with Energy Flow Control (EFC).
The unit that broke the record rode the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tires, which are model-specific and come as standard, as do AMG ceramic brakes. Now it only remains to sit down and enjoy the time of the Mercedes-AMG One and wait to see if any other manufacturer tries to remove the crown soon.
