Despite spending years talking about autonomous vehicle, the truth is that it does not finish taking off. Many already see it as a utopia given the legal considerations that would have to be resolved, since it is currently only legal in a few places in the world. However, some companies continue to insist and work on new projects. For example, Zeekr Launches SEA-M Platform, dedicated exclusively to electrical. It will also serve as the basis for an autonomous robotaxi.
The company, which belongs to Geely Holding Group, wants to work on a series of driverless vehicles that could define the mobility of the future and start with this architecture. It is fully modular, because it wants to adapt to all the needs that users require. If the car is autonomous, its interior has to be converted into a multipurpose space so that people can relax with a drink or watch a movie, while it can also be used as a study or place to have a meeting.

In this way, Zeekr’s SEA-M platform aims to be a solid foundation for all kinds of vehicles, from robotaxis to those dedicated to the transport of merchandise. The key that all of them will have will be the spacious interior thanks to short overhangs, the absence of a B-pillar and the totally flat floor. Buyers will be able to choose the number and position of the seats. Also will highlight its technologyallowing complete connectivity, in addition to safety, since it will have all kinds of driving aids in this autonomous system.
The first use that will be given to the SEA-M platform will be carried out by waymo. The autonomous driving specialist company reached an agreement with Zeekr to use this architecture in a fleet of vehicles to which it will put all its technology. They will be used as robotaxis for shared transport in the Waymo One company that operates in the United States, specifically in Phoenix (Arizona) and San Francisco (California). In Europe they cannot yet operate as there is no legal framework that allows it, but similar programs will probably arrive in our continent in the future.
