It is confirmed: FIAT’s most important launch for the South American region in 2023 will be a medium-sized pick-upwhich by the way, will be a clone of the Peugeot Landtrek that is manufactured in China.
The information began to circulate in the middle of this 2022, when Stellantis would have decided to position the product under the FIAT brand, however, the concept is the same: manufacturing in China by Changan, although it is not ruled out that it can also be manufactured in one of the Stellantis plants in South America.
Some Brazilian media have already published photos of the prototypes hanging around the Betim plant (Belo Horizonte), all with the Peugeot aesthetic that we know. But no one dares to name it yet. What has been confirmed, at least extra officially, is that it will equip the Peugeot 2.0 Blue HDi engine that will offer 180 Hp, coupled to a six- speed manual or automatic transmission and 4×4 traction with reduction.
About the equipment, there are two types of information:
- The first is that the FIAT pick-up will be work-oriented and will have normal equipment.
- The second is that Peugeot (as part of Stellantis) would be left without a representative in this segment for that region and FIAT will take the winner.
