The new Honda HR-V 2023 received the highest award from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the qualification TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) 2022. The SUV earned the highest marks for crashworthiness in all categories tested.
In addition, HR-V’s standard Forward Collision Avoidance System was rated “HIGHER” from the IIHS in vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evasion tests.
With this award, seven Honda models have obtained the TSP 2022 or higher qualification as they are: The 2022 Honda Accord, 2022 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback (tested as separate models), 2023 Honda HR-V, 2022 Honda Insight and 2022 Honda Odyssey all achieving the highest TSP+ rating. For its part, the 2022 Honda CR-V, equipped with specific headlights, was also recognized with the 2022 TSP award, while the new 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS.
To get the prize TOP SAFETY PICK+ 2022a vehicle must score “GOOD” in six crashworthiness tests, including driver side frontal impact, passenger side frontal impact, moderate frontal impact, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests. The TSP+ also requires “ADVANCED” or “SUPERIOR” qualifications in the prevention of frontal collisions between vehicles and between vehicles-pedestrians, as well as “ACCEPTABLE” or “GOOD” ratings in all trim levels.
