Ford faces a $105 million fine!

The American automobile manufacturer Ford has come before us with various successes so far. Expanding its product range, especially with the electrification process, the company achieved success by increasing its share in the EV market as well. However, according to the latest posts, the company faces a large penalty.

According to Automotive News, a federal jury in Detroit has ordered Ford Motor Company to pay Versata Software Inc $104.6 million in damages for violating its license agreement and misusing trade secrets in 2004. The members of the jury made a detailed examination before making this decision.

According to the statements, Texas-based software company Versata stated that it licensed automotive software to Ford from 1998 to 2015. It was also stated that they assisted the automaker’s engineers and marketing agencies and contributed to the collaboration on vehicles with continuous real-time updates around the world.

It was then rumored that Ford renounced this decision and as of 2014 copied the software and refused to pay $17 million annually. The jury determined more than $82.2 million of this penalty for breach of contract, while the remaining $22.4 million was related to the taking of company secrets.

Versata’s loss specialist, on the other hand, announced that the company suffered trade secret losses of $ 59.9 million. Although Ford has stated that they do not accept the penalty for now and that they will appeal, it is not yet known whether the result will change.
