Williams, one of the most mythical teams in the entire history of Formula 1, was very close to disappearing a few years ago. Both the team and the name, like a surname that has been in the Great Circus for decades. Dorilton saved everything, but nothing would have been possible without the FIA budget cap.
“Without the budget cap, Dorilton would not have invested in F1. Without it, possibly Williams would no longer exist. It’s something vital for the team,” says Josh Capito, former head of the Grove brand, in words he collects ‘Caranddriver.
And he continues: “A large team would spend much more and We couldn’t keep up.”
“With Dorilton we could invest more than others; with the budget limit everything evens out,” he insists.
Capito also believes that the teams will be able to match each other to make an F1 in which no one dominates so clearly… but time is missing. A long time.
“You have to look five to ten years for that to happen,” he says.
