Let’s do some history…
A little over 40 years ago, Porsche Design became the first watch manufacturer to have a chronograph made of titanium.now it does it again manufacturing “in house” at the Solothurn facilities in Switzerland, where they designed, created and modeled a watch in titanium carbide, a more robust material that is much more resistant to scratches and scratches.
Construction and design
Titanium Carbide is hypoallergenic and is lighter than titanium, which in itself is already an extremely light material, the case is 40.8 mm, the dial immediately refers us to the legendary chronograph created by Butzy Porschebut the Dakar version brings its own style without forgetting its origins. With a Rallye design, it features a sub-dial at nine o’clock painted in the colors of the iconic Rothmans team livery. On the dial that is located at six o’clock -which indicates the elapsed hours of the chronograph- we see the legend “Flyback”, which indicates the ability of the “chrono” to be “reset to zero” even while it is running, without the need to to stop it previously, reset it and start it again and also, the model has the COSC certification (Controlle Officiel Suisse des Cronomètres)The WERK 01.240 movement is from Porsche Design’s own manufactureand on the back there is a sapphire crystal that allows you to see part of the clock mechanism and the winding rotor that, as is customary in the manufacturer, is inspired by the wheels of the 911, in this case those mounted on the Dakar model. .
Each piece of the 2,500 is numberedand are only available to future owners of the Porsche 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar with Ralleye Design, of which only 2,500 units will also be produced.
