The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this Sunday was the scene of emotional farewells in which two stood out above the rest: that of Sebastian Vettel of the Formula 1 and of Fernando Alonso of Alpineteam with which he won his two world titles in 2005 and 2006.
Before the race started, both had an emotional moment worthy of the legends they are.
Alonso approached the Aston Martin from Vettel to reassure him before his last race and asked him to “enjoy”.
“Don’t worry about me on the first lap, enjoy”the Asturian can be heard saying in a video published by the very Formula 1.
Fernando literally escorted Sebastian on the first lap to prevent a crash from taking him out of his last F1 race.
In the end, the German finished in the points, something that the Oviedo could not do, who after a new problem of The Alpine’s reliability was forced to drop.
Who knows what both of them would have brought us if they had crossed the checkered flag together. In 2018, Hamilton and Vettel escorted Alonso and the three dedicated some ‘donuts’ to the public. This time, only ‘Seb’ finished the race.
