Sebastian Vettel retires from Formula 1 after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and there are several tributes that have been dedicated to the German this weekend. The last, a lap of honor for a large part of the paddock accompanying the Aston Martin driver to the race through the Yas Marina circuit.
Pilots, mechanics, journalists and members of the F1 organization have come together to give him a new tribute. Hundreds of people from the paddock came together and wore a T-shirt dedicated to the German. “Thank you Seb. Never lift, never stop believing” was the phrase they wore on the shirt, along with the German flag, the silhouette of one of its most iconic celebrations and the pilot’s signature.
For his part, Vettel brought a “Thank you F1” as they escorted him on the run.
The German is experiencing a beautiful farewell. There are several pilots who have already dedicated a few words to it before arriving in the Arab country. Others, like Fernando Alonso or Mick Schumacher, went further and wear a helmet in his honor. The entire 2022 gridiron came together for a farewell dinner. Aston Martin decorated his box with several photos of his race. Even Ferrari, his former team, gave him a cover of his 2018 car with dedications from his previous mechanics.
And on Sunday he will expect some more from the four-time Formula 1 champion, who will say goodbye to the ‘Great Circus’ after 16 years as part of the premier category of motorsport.
