One of the most unpleasant sensations experienced by a driver is to find a ticket on the windshield. Although most sanctions are already processed electronically and arrive directly at the offender’s home, paper is still used in some cases. And recently there has been a lot of fuss about some false fines that have appeared in Madrid. We are going to talk about the subject and help the user to identify the fraudulent ones with the real ones.
First of all, it must be said that the sanctions have appeared in the Carabanchel district and that they are photocopies of traffic tickets, specifically for improper parking. At first glance they can be confused with the originals because they have the logo of the Madrid City Council in the header and that have some details as an alleged key to the infringement, the facts denounced (“Parking on or next to a shelter, islet, protection median or traffic channeling elements”), as well as the amount with the reduction for prompt payment (100 euros that become 50 euros).
ALERT. FALSE COMPLAINTS
We have detected fraud consisting of photocopies that pretend to be traffic tickets placed on the windshields of some vehicles in the capital.

Although at the bottom is the key that tells us that the fine is false, that it is a scam. They have a QR code with which the user supposedly has to pay the penalty. What the Madrid City Council has already warned about is that none of its complaint bulletins incorporate this type of code and that they shouldn’t scan it in no case. It seems that the code leads to the City Council’s penalty payment website without the recipient being able to make the payment, but precautions must be taken anyway.
Simply remember that any fine imposed by law enforcement officers is already is sent by certified mail or by the electronic road address. The authorities are making a move and the Municipal Police are going to initiate proceedings for a possible crime of documentary falsification and fraud. It has also been brought to the attention of the computer services of the Madrid City Council (IAM) for investigation. In any case, if you see a supposed fine on your windshield and it has a QR code, do not pay any attention to it, it can be destroyed directly.
