The American tech giant has accepted the fact that it is not possible to build a car without a steering wheel and pedals.
Apple, one of the world’s best and most valuable technology companies, has long been rumored to be in an automobile project. The aim of the US-based technology giant is to develop an autonomous and electric car. However, according to reports in Automotive News Europe, Apple postponed the launch date by one year to 2026.
Apple executives want to develop a fully autonomous car without a steering wheel and pedals, a project known internally as ‘Titan’. But brand executives are faced with the reality that it is not possible to develop a fully autonomous car without a steering wheel and pedals.

Apple is now incorporating the steering wheel and pedals into the project, a new strategy that will allow its autonomous system to work only on highways. Meanwhile, the design of the car is less ambitious than originally planned.
Apple’s car project, which has been in development for years, is expected to bring the company very high profits. But it will also be used to test Apple’s technological capabilities. Apple is currently working on a system that allows drivers to navigate the highway with fully autonomous driving support and can switch to manual control when needed.
Apple’s self-driving car will be available first in North America and then in other regions over time. Much of the car’s testing is taking place at a former Chrysler test track near Phoenix. The test site, code-named “Sahara”, was purchased by a company representing Apple for $125 million in 2021.
