The Formula 1 made an important regulation change in 2022 in order to have more matched battles and more overtaking. The result was not entirely as desired, as there are still three leading teams ( Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes) and the rest are far away. Nevertheless, Carlos Sainz believes that this change was a step forward.
“I believe that Formula 1 got it right. In general, I think these cars have allowed us to run closer and be able to overtake in corners or circuits where it was always more difficult before, so I think racing is more exciting“, comments Sainz on the official website of the Formula 1.
With the new cars the action increased on the track and the battles were bigger. One of the main objectives of the revolutionary regulation was reduce dirty air generated by the single-seaters, in order to facilitate overtaking and that the cars could follow more closely.
Sainz believes that over time, each team will know how to adapt to the new regulations and equality will be much greater: “I think the difference on the grid is still relatively big, but as soon as these regulations stabilize, I think let’s all unite“.
“The championship will be more and more interesting as the years and races go by. I think it’s the right direction,” he adds. This coincides with the statements he made this week Romain Grosjean to ‘SoyMotor.com’, in which they also He said that Fernando Alonso was an “animal”.
“I think the budget ceiling and the halo have been the two best ideas of the F1 in recent years. This year has been very exciting. There are still teams that do not reach the ceiling and I would say that the limit should be even lower, but the big teams don’t want to. What we have had this year has been good and I really want to see what happens next year”, commented grosjean.
