AlphaTauri he has had a 2022 season to forget. They have finished penultimate in the constructors’ championship and have lost their best driver for the last three years, Pierre Gasley. Despite his departure, the Frenchman has good words for the team and affirms that the Red Bull subsidiary has the “best car ever made”.
The Frenchman, in statements collected by ‘Motorsport’, affirms that he is confident in the possibilities in 2023 of what is already his old team: “In 2021 we were at the front of the grid, but the last one was at the end. Who knows what will happen next campaign? AlphaTauri is switching to a completely different concept, fight again for the top positions. It’s hard to know.”
“They told me that next year their car will be the best they have ever done. and that they will be fighting for a good position. However, everyone in the paddock will make big moves, so nobody knows what will happen,” Gasly said.
Regarding his options in Alpine, the Frenchman agrees with what will be his teammate, Esteban Oconin which the team is on the hunt for the first three: “It is clear that the package is good. The next objective is to chase down the big three (Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes). We are going to do our best. I’m sure we’re going to get great results.”
