Daniel Ricciardo Go back to Red Bull. He will do it as a reserve pilot, behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. After two disastrous years at McLaren, the Australian has run out of a spot as a starter on the Formula 1 grid.
Christian Hornerhead of the energy drink team, has stated on the ‘Beyond The Grid’ podcast that the decision to leave Red Bull in 2018 was “stupid”.
“He joined us as a teenager and grew up here. With us It was very successful, but…”reflects Horner.
“Made something stupid in 2018 and went to a couple other teamsbut it never worked at all”, says the head of the team that has become double champion this season: drivers with Max Verstappen and constructors.
Regarding his return, he is very excited to have him back: “Daniel is a great personality and a great character. We felt it was right to bring him back to the team.”
Although he will do it as a reserve, Horner is convinced that it will be very positive both for him and for the team: “you can have fun again and rediscover the joy of being a Formula 1 driver.”
A luxury trio that Red Bull will have next year. McLaren is already history for Ricciardo. There he will replace you Oscar Piastri as owner and Spanish Alex Palou as reserve.
