After Toyota, it’s the Volksburg-based manufacturer’s turn.
It is clear that electric cars are not the only green solution in the automobile world. Synthetic fuels, solar-powered vehicles, and hydrogen-powered cars. For example, Toyota has already built a hydrogen-powered car to clear up all the confusion about hydrogen. The car, called Mirai, offers the end user a hydrogen-powered car experience.
According to the news of MotorTrend, Volksburg-based automotive manufacturer Volkswagen has started work to produce a hydrogen-powered car with a range of 2,000 kilometers. We know that the German brand will decide whether to produce hydrogen fuel cell cars by 2026. Thus, we can see brands that can really compete with Tesla when it comes to ‘green’ cars.
However, hydrogen fuel cell cars have an interesting drawback. The ranges of the cars are really satisfying, and the refueling process is much shorter and more practical compared to fully electric cars. So what’s the problem?
Automakers have really little invested in cars with hydrogen fuel cells. Instead, many manufacturers have chosen to invest in electric cars and battery systems. Indirectly, this means fewer refueling stations for cars with hydrogen fuel cells.
Hydrogen powered vehicles can save the automotive industry, especially when it comes to light and heavy commercial vehicles. Nowadays, where the new trend is environmentalism, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles both have much more range and take very little time to refuel.
The fact that Volkswagen has seen the potential in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is a very important step for the automotive industry!
