Since the end of the season -even a few races before-, Esteban Ocon has begun to ‘show its paw’ and to make known what its attitude really is towards Fernando Alonso.
The French pilot, who has retaliated sticking out his chest after finishing ahead of the double world champion of Formula 1 this season, he has gone further and has been happy with the departure of the Asturian to Aston Martin.
In statements collected by ‘L’Équipe’, Ocon has criticized the touches of attention that Alonso has given him before the press after actions, to say the least, controversial.
“I am disappointed by the comments you made to the press more than what was said internally. We didn’t really have a discussion about any of that. I prefer that it stay private, that we explain ourselves face to face,” she said.
He openly acknowledged that he is glad that he is leaving Alpine: “I respect everything he did on the track, his titles and, above all, his motivation at his age. It’s a good thing he’s going to Aston Martin and we’re going our own way“.
Why? According to Esteban, because Fernando did almost nothing and he did everything: “98% of the work fell on my back and 2% on his. He was overworked. I did all the development of the simulator, the marketing…”.
Now with Pierre Gasley –his childhood archenemy– In the team, he believes that these tasks will be more distributed.
“I think that with Pierre we can divide this job very well. It will help me have more energy for the season and I am sure it will be much better. With two Frenchmen, Alpine hopes to tickle to the first three in the Championship”, he affirms, taking off the mask that at first seemed not to have.
