In Free Practice 1 of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, jack doohanpilot of the academy of Alpine in Formula 2, has been at the controls of the single-seater of Fernando Alonso to comply with the FIA requirements and win filming.
The ex of the Red Bull academy already did the same with the car of Esteban Ocon andn Free Practice 1 in the Mexican Grand Prixbut the ‘feedback’ he got was very different.
While Alonso has been very attentive to him at Yas Marina, advising him to get the most out of it, Ocon’s attitude was more intimidating for the ‘rookie’.
“When [Ocon] He left his car for the last time for FP1, I think it was here in Mexico 2017, the driver who let his car drive hit the wall at turn 13”, he said in statements collected by ‘RacingNews365.com’
“So, from last weekend, he said: ‘Don’t crash my car.’ Honestly, every time I went out at Turn 13 and Turn 14, I had Esteban in my head saying: ‘Don’t crash this car!’” he added.
For his part, he only has good words for Fernando: “He’s an amazing guy, super laid back and he’s always been there. I know I can always talk to him. He is one of the first to always say hello in the morning and say goodbye when he leaves.”
“We had a little chat the morning before we went out on track, just because of the expectations of the curbs of the circuit. It’s really cool and a pleasure to work with a legend of the sport” added Jack Doohan.
