Manufacturers, who have come across with vehicles that are different from the definition of classic cars we have known until today, want to make the subscription system applicable in the sector with the development of technology.
German automaker Mercedes-Benz began offering its advanced steerable rear axle system for its electric vehicle EQS in July 2021 for an annual fee of 489 euros. This situation caused a lot of criticism of the company. Thanks to this subscription, the rear wheels can turn up to 10 degrees, as opposed to the usual 4.5 degrees.
Recently, we told you that the company has announced a performance upgrade package in the USA for the EQE – EQS Sedan and SUV models with an annual fee of $ 1,200 excluding taxes. In line with this move, we predicted that the subscription would come for the European market as well. However, this will not happen, according to the Dutch edition of Top Gear magazine.
In an interview with a spokesperson from the local branch of Mercedes-Benz by the magazine, it was stated that this subscription option cannot be offered in Europe due to legal reasons. The spokesperson, who hesitated to go into details, did not make a clear statement.
Although such a statement came from the Mercedes-Benz wing, an update was released for the Polestar 2 at the end of last year, increasing the power from 408 to 476 horsepower and the torque from 660 to 680 Nm. However, we need to point out that this update is a permanent upgrade rather than a subscription.
