  • The operator loads his vehicle into the back of a truck.
  • This is the best way to transport your vehicle.
  • Wheeled lifting equipment
  • The tractor uses two pivot arms that run under the front tires and lift them off the ground. The rear tires stay on the ground. This is an acceptable way to tow your vehicle.

DOESN’T RESPECT

Attempting to lift or tow your vehicle by its bumpers will cause serious damage. The bumpers are not designed to support the weight of the vehicle. Never tow your vehicle with only one rope or chain. Ropes or chains are very dangerous as they can slip or break from one side to the other. Improper towing, such as in the back of a caravan or other motor vehicle, can damage the transmission. If your vehicle needs to be towed with the front wheels on the ground:

1. Check for fluid leaks on the floor under the vehicle around the transmission case. If you find a leak, call a professional towing service and have your vehicle checked by a dealer.

2. Place the fabric on the edge of the cover. To remove the cover, carefully pry it with a small flat-blade screwdriver or metal nail file. The detachable tow hook attaches to the anchor point on the front bumper.

3. Remove the tow hook and wheel wrench from the trunk.

4. Screw the towing hook into the hole and tighten securely with the wheel wrench.

5. Hang the tow hook on the tow bar.

6. Start the engine.

If you have difficulty starting the engine, turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY or ON.

7. Manual Transmission Models: Neutralize.

8. Continuously Variable Transmission Models: Depress the brake pedal.

9.Switch to Drive mode and hold for five seconds, then Neutral

10. All models: Release the parking brake.

CVT models with continuously variable transmission only:

If you cannot replace the transmission or start the engine, you will damage the transmission. Your vehicle should be transported with the front wheels off the ground.

Models with the keyless entry system have an ENGINE START/STOP button instead of the ignition switch.

NOTE:

If you cannot start the engine, you may experience the following while towing your vehicle.

It may be difficult to brake because the brake system’s power assist is disabled. The steering wheel becomes heavy when the power steering system is disengaged.

Turning the ignition key to the LOCK (0*1) position locks the steering wheel.

With the front wheels on the ground, it is best to tow the vehicle for a maximum of 80 km and keep your speed below 55 km/h. A long downhill ride heats up the brakes.

This can prevent the brakes from working properly. If your vehicle needs to be towed on a slope, call a professional towing service.
