The Citroën Oli sets foot in Madrid as a showcase of the future

This ‘concept car’ that the brand with the chevrons presented for the first time shortly before the last Paris Motor Show has now arrived in the Spanish capital so that we can discover its characteristics in situ.

As we already told you at the end of September, the new Citroen Oli (of all-ë, all electric) is a prototype that aims to anticipate what will be the most sustainable and efficient way of moving in the nearest tomorrow. To do this, it uses recycled and recyclable parts and materials, as well as a groundbreaking design that even reminds us of the iconic Hummer H1. Another of its identifying signs is that it incorporates for the first time the new logo of the French brand, behind which it hides the charging port on its front. Because yes, we are talking about a zero-emission vehicle that mounts a 40 kWh battery for about 400 km of autonomy.

The 2 CV of the 21st century?

Based on the idea that Sir Colin Chapman held throughout his career that lightness should prioritize Regarding power, the Oli boasts a weight content of only 1,000 kg. Largely thanks to this, the consumption that its creators speak of is only 10 kWh. Its maximum speed reaches 110 km/h and to go from 20 to 80% of the autonomy that we talked about before, it only takes 23 minutes. Therefore, everything in the Oli revolves around simplicity, sustainability and functionality. In fact, some features are so simple that they appear to be nods to the 2 CV. Like this one, the set does not seek more than to satisfy the need to move from one point to another with minimalism and with total guarantees, although 70 years later with the factor of electrical energy well present, instead of fuel.

Of course this show car will not make it to the assembly line from any Citroën factory, but some of the features that are released in it will. That is precisely what the CEO of the company, Vincent Cobée, referred to during the presentation of the Oli to the Spanish media in Madrid’s Ciudad de la Imagen. “With the concept car Oli, Citroën once again marks the future of the automobile with a vehicle that, far from being a simple exercise in style, opens the path to innovations designed to solve day-to-day problems. El Oli explores fields as diverse as materials, comfort, recyclability and the efficiency of electric mobility, providing new alternatives that we will be able to see in future launches of the brand”, comments Cobée.
