There’s a new king of top speed in the world of electric vehicles. Although the electric ones stand out more for their acceleration than for their final speed, Rimac broke the schemes, since his Refrigerator model reached a maximum speed of 412 km/h.
To reach this speed, Rimac took the Nevera to the Automotive Testing Papenburg proving ground in Germany. This track is a gigantic oval with two 4 km straights and banked curves.
The Croatian manufacturer detailed that the Nevera was set to its top speed mode, which is intended to create an airfoil that balances drag and downforce to achieve low drag but without losing control. Speaking of control, for this test the Nevera was equipped with Michelin Cup 2R road tires.

Rimac says that the top speed of 412 km/h is exactly what he had simulated years ago, and was the goal the company set itself when the car was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018. From what they stated, it took them a total of 1.6 million collective development hours to get to this point.
It is worth noting that this record speed cannot be reached at any time or by anyone. The Rimac Nevera has a maximum speed limitation of 352 km/h, but if whoever buys the car wants to take the risk, this limiter can be disabled in special events where the Rimac technical team is present and can give the mechanical ok to carry out the proof.
How did the Rimac Nevera reach such a time? Thanks to the 1,914 hp delivered by its quadruple electric motors, which not only serve to reach 412 km/h but also to do 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.85 seconds. In addition to the top speed record, the Nevera also demonstrated incredible acceleration, completing the quarter mile (400 meters) in just 8,582 seconds.
