The only prototype of a Ford Ghia Trio Concept, a microcar prototype from 1983, has been put up for sale and can be yours for €500,000.
We usually tell you about peculiar cars that are put up for sale through auctions or through advertisements on-line of individuals, but it must be recognized that this one takes the cake for its uniqueness.
We are talking about a prototype from the mid-1980s that has been put up for sale on eBay and for which nearly half a million euros. Exactly we are before the only copy of the Ford Ghia Trio Conceptwhich was introduced (and soon after forgotten) at the 1983 Geneva Motor Show.
500,000 euros is its sale price
The Ford Trio Concept was a microcar developed by Ford in collaboration with Ghia body shop. The idea was to position the driver in the center of the car to improve visibility. That’s where the inspiration for his name, Trio, came from. It has three seats: a front central seat for the driver and two rear seats for the passengers.
Although the manufacturer wanted to explore the idea of producing a very small and low consumption city carthis concept did not meet what was expected of it and was never produced in series, leaving this unit as the only representative.
However, the concept had interesting solutions for the time, such as a tubular chassis, an aluminum body, a Kevlar and fiberglass floor and aluminum and fiberglass seats. All this aimed at saving weight, something that I managed to he barely weighed 337 kg and, it is said, it was capable of declaring a consumption of 3.3 liters per 100 km.
The Ford Ghia Trio Concept being sold, as specified by the seller, does not have a motoras its rear-mounted 250cc 2-cylinder 2-stroke engine would have been removed a few years ago while the car was in a museum.
