It’s been a while since we talked about preparers, and it’s nice to find this kind of news. It turns out that specialist AC Cars is literally sketching what will be a new two-seater coupe. As they themselves say, it is a “freehand” or “clean sheet” design (our designer readers will understand better) that takes some traits from the mythical Cobra, with the particularity that, in addition to the brutal performance, it will also direct efforts to comfort and incorporation of technology.
The so far called AC Cobra GT could arrive in 2023, also displaying the best craft manufacturing techniques and raw materials headed by a Ford engine that could not be other than the famous “V8 Coyote”, accompanied by the following possible specifications:
- Displacement: 5.0 liter supercharged
- It could make up to 654 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque.
- 10- speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual.
- Special chassis made of aluminum
- Carbon fiber bodywork
- 2.5 meter wheelbase
- Weight: less than 1,500 kg
- 0-100 km/h: 3.6 seconds.
AC Cars has a very close eye on the issue of structural rigidity, since good management of the torque generated by the engine will be key during its performance and handling, since as they themselves have stated, they also want the AC Cobra GT to be comfortable and for daily use, so so, that a removable hardtop, electric windows, air conditioning and entertainment system are thought to be integral to the equipment; components that the mythical Cobra would not even remotely have in its “young years”
