For the first time in his career, lewis hamilton He has finished a season in Formula 1 without wins or pole positions. Nevertheless, the Brit is “positively surprised” by his season despite the bad numbers achieved and having lost the particular duel with his teammate George Russell.
In an interview with ‘Channel 4’, the Mercedes driver took positive aspects of his season: “It has been hard for all of us to stay positive and not worry about hoping that we would be on top again. It has turned out to be very challenging mentally and emotionally, but I am very proud of the whole team. I would even say that I am surprised with myself for the way in which I have handled this situation“.
“I have tried to remember all the years that I have been with Mercedes and I feel very privileged to have been so successful. The most important thing is not that we win or lose or the way in which we do it, but how we manage ourselves internally as a team every week or every day. It’s what I’ve focused on the most,” she admitted.
Despite seeing the positive side, Hamilton has recognized that the results weigh heavily and that it has been “frustrating” not to improve this season: “At the beginning of the year there was this frustration of not being able to see what we needed from the car. If it didn’t go where we wanted, we weren’t able to react. As a team, we try a lot of things. Every weekend we were positive and we did work in the simulator and in the factory, but when we went to the circuit, the problems continued from the previous race.
