Four manufacturers within GM are affected by the recall program.
In the news we wrote the other day, we informed you that the RAM brand recalled more than 1 million vehicles. The problem was that a mechanism in the trunk lid did not work, causing the trunk lids to open on their own, thus causing damage to the vehicle and other vehicles.
This time we are here with another recall program. General Motors, also an American automaker, launched a recall campaign due to an issue affecting four of its automakers.
The recall campaign, which includes the brands Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC, is about daytime running lights. Synchronous operation of daytime running lights with the front lighting system can tire drivers’ eyes, reduce visibility and increase the likelihood of collisions. This is exactly why GM has recalled many of its vehicles.
In addition, according to the articles in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard in the USA, both daytime running lights and front lighting systems cannot be turned on at the same time. GM reports that having both lighting systems turned on does not cause a technical problem. The recall program was created only to influence potential accidents and bad situations.
740,108 vehicles are affected by the recall and include models such as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. Buick Envision, Cadillac CT4 and CT5 models are also included in the recall.
It is also said that the problem with the lighting system is not hardware, but software. Thus, customers can avoid the risk of accidents with a minor software update to their vehicle.
