Classic and special models of the automobile world are paid high prices at auctions. The latest allegations say that the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe became the most expensive model in history with a secret sale.

According to Hagerty, the world’s largest insurer of classic cars, the title of “most expensive car” has changed hands in a secret sale.
Only two cars were allegedly produced, the 1956 model Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. One of these cars was sold at auction for $142 million.

This record belonged to the Ferrari 250 GTO, which was sold for a record-breaking $70 million in 2018.
According to reports, the sale took place at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart and invited collectors from all over the world were brought to the city by private jets.

Rudolf Uhlenhaut was the head of Mercedes-Benz’s test department when the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was created. The coupe was named after Uhlenhaut to honor his contributions to the company.
The company produced only 2 of this model.
