It is always good news that there are plans for the future for any Spanish factory. For us, even more so if it falls within the automotive sector and if we take into account that it is from a firm of national origin. SEAT Components, the facilities located in El Prat de Llobregat, announces an exemplary transformation for the coming years. The goal is to adapt to current times and be able to produce parts for new generation electric that SEAT and Cupra will bring from 2025.
The first to arrive will be the production version of the Cupra UrbanRebel, seated on the MEB platform and with a fairly contained size of 4.03 meters. In fact, it seems that it still does not have a definitive name, as they continue to refer to it as “Smal BEV”. What does seem clear is that the vehicle will be produced at the SEAT plant in Martorell and that some components will come from the El Prat facilities. In this way, this objective of turning Spain into an electric mobility hub for Europe will continue.

Specifically, at SEAT Componentes, five vehicle parts electric. We are talking about parts as important as the differential, the knuckle, the battery E-Box, the KMM (battery cooling module) and the aluminum of the electric vehicle engine. For this, a large investment will be necessary that will allow them to transform this plant into which about 900 people work at the moment. After all, SEAT Componentes specialized in combustion vehicles that will end up disappearing.
In recent years they have been producing two models of manual gearboxes, the MQ200 and the MQ281. With the expansion of the electric vehicle, these components will fall into disuse and they have to adapt this installation if they want to maintain the workforce. The positive is that it will be a relatively easy transition due to the highly trained workers and the high levels of efficiency and productivity that they have demonstrated. The El Prat plant, which has been operating since 1979, has been recognized for these aspects on several occasions.
