GTO Engineering sought to capture the essence of a classic sports car interior, avoiding infotainment screens for dials and solid switches.
GTO Engineering has released the first interior images of the upcoming V12-powered Ferrari 250 GTO-inspired sports car. Dubbed Squalo, it will make its debut in 2023
The images are just sketches for now, but it’s clear that the Squalo’s cabin will have the same design language of yesteryear as the exterior. Key features include classic hard-back seats, a wood-framed steering wheel and an H-door manual derailleur housed in a leather-trimmed center console.
There’s also no visible digital display on the Squalo, as GTO Engineering didn’t want anything to undermine the classic sports car aesthetic. So there are analog gauges, analog climate controls, and a set of toggle switches for hazards and items like demister.
But that doesn’t mean that modern conveniences are completely gone in Squalo – you just have to work hard to find them. Hidden somewhere behind the interior trim is a modern stereo system, USB ports for smartphone connectivity, and an infotainment system that we assume can be placed from the dash like a Bentley Continental GT’s.
To keep the interior clutter-free, GTO Engineering has even designed some practical additions, such as storage boxes and cup holders, which are also hidden behind dashboard panels. In the coming months, the firm will release more sketches showing how all these sneaky extras fit into the cabin.

Mark Lyon, CEO and founder of the company, said: “Squalo drivers will spend more time looking at the car from the outside, so it was vital for us that we not only listen to our customers but also benefit from our experience. inside the cabin is using sports cars to focus on what matters: simplicity and driver engagement.”
GTO Engineering recently confirmed that the Squalo will be powered by an in-house developed, naturally aspirated, four-cam 4.0-liter V12 engine that will reach 10,000 rpm. The company is also targeting an output of 460 hp and a total weight of less than 165 kg, or more than 10 kg less than the unit of the original Ferrari 250 GTO.
