The Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato It is the ideal way to end the year for two Italian firms. The well-known manufacturer returns to work with the legendary bodybuilder to make a unique example that serves as a centenary celebration between the first collaboration between the two firms. A century after that Type G1, received a very special order by a customer loyal to both Alfa Romeo and Zagato. They made their dream come true and left us the rest of the fans of the motor world totally ojipláticos.
Technically it is an Alfa Romeo Giulia, but its Giorgio platform has received major changes and its bodywork has been completely replaced. The first thing is to say that the initials SWB mean short wheelbase, so its wheelbase has been reduced. In this way, the saloon becomes a authentic two-door coupe It only has space for two passengers inside. And one of the most interesting parts is its heart, as it is the most powerful engine available from the Italian brand.

Because the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato could not carry anything other than the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. It was based on a Giulia Quadrifoglio with a manual transmission, although its mechanics is what gives life to the radical Giulia GTAm. What does that mean? That we have that power of 540 CV and 600 Nm of torque maintaining the manual gearbox, which is not available at the top of the range. It is a copy of propulsion that delivers everything behind and of which they have not given details of benefits.
It can be expected to be a really fast car considering its provenance, but it is also to appreciate the exclusivity provided by its design. As we said, it does not share a single body panel and starts with a lower and more marked front thanks to the Scudetto grill with two huge air intakes to both sides. Headlights from the Alfa Romeo Tonale are perfectly integrated inside, while the hood has more air intakes and the bumper has a carbon fiber splitter at the bottom.

The inspiration that Alfa Romeo and Zagato have taken in the mythical SZ of the 90s is noticeable, although adapting that language to the times that run. It can be seen from other details such as the fact that it retains the five-spoke wheels from the Giulia GTAm with yellow brake calipers. The two-door body has flush handles, a more prominent roof drop and a more characterful rear. You can appreciate the double bubble roof typical of Zagato and a Kammback-style rear like that of the Alfa Romeo TZ, with a slim LED strip and dual exhaust outlets in a central position.

The interior of this one-off did not want to be left behind either. Although it retains the Giulia’s component layout and technology, it receives a good number of carbon fiber trim. Also two sports seats with black leather upholstery with details and stitching in green, a pattern that is repeated on the steering wheel. About saying that this Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato has been made by hand in the Atelier of Milan and it is a unique creation of which no more units will be made. Its price has not been revealed, but it is clear that it had to be very high.
