The new “Bullitt” movie being prepared by Steven Spielberg already has the main character: Bradley Cooper.
A few months ago we told you on this same website that the American director Steven Spielberg was preparing a new version of “Bullitt”, one of the movie classics for car lovers. Now it has been confirmed that Bradley Cooper will play the classic character of Frank Bullitt in the film You have to remember that the original character was played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 thriller “Bullitt.” In the film, McQueen played a San Francisco police lieutenant tasked with protecting a Chicago gangster who had to testify against the mob. When the witness is murdered, Bullitt, together with his inseparable Ford Mustang, sets off to track down the murderers.
Will we see Cooper behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang?
Now, 54 years later, Spielberg, who has directed great titles such as “Jaws”, “Jurassic Park” or “ET, the extraterrestrial”, has launched an ambitious project in which he will have Bradley Cooper to take over the baton from deceased McQueen. Though plot details of Spielberg’s project have been kept under wrapsthe as-yet-untitled film is expected to follow Bullitt in a totally different feat than the one played by McQueen.
Not all the cars that are destroyed in the movies are real
Cooper, famous for his performances in films such as “A Star Is Born,” “The Hangover” and “The Bright Side of Things,” will produce the film with Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger. McQueen’s son, Chad McQueen, and his granddaughter, Molly McQueen, will serve as executive producers. The script will be in charge of Josh Singer (known for “Maestro”, precisely directed and starring Cooper, “The Pentagon files”, also signed by Spielberg, or “Spotlight”).
What is yet to be defined is whether This new Bullitt will have the automotive support of the legendary Mustang… we assume that Ford will do everything possible to achieve it, taking into account the popularity that this model achieved thanks to the original film.
