The electric car market appears to be so mature in some parts of the world, that there are models that are already in their second generation or, as in this case, in their mid-life update.
Audi’s first electric model was the SUV e-tron, a name that would later be inherited for the entire family of electric models of the brand.. It was released in 2018 and now, four years after its global presentation, it receives its mid-cycle update that adds many new features, including a name change.
Audi Q8 e-tron: Main features
To begin with, the title of this section is not wrong. From now on, the e-tron is renamed Q8 e-tron, to distance itself from the name “e-tron” simply with which the Stuttgart brand calls its range of electric vehicles, made up of the Q4 e-tron and e-tron GT, among others. In addition, with the “Q8” it makes it clear that it is the top of the range of its battery-powered SUVs.
The update reached both the SUV and the Sportback version, highlighting the modifications carried out in the powertrain, especially in the increase in the size of the batteries. For example, in version 55, the battery went from having a capacity of 95 kWh to 114 kWh, 30% more. Thus, it extended the autonomy of the 417 (SUV variant) and 446 kilometers (Sportback) to 580 and 600 kilometers, respectively.
Regarding the power, the Q8 e-tron 55 continues to deliver 408 Hp, thanks to the presence of two electric motors (one on each axis). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 5.6 seconds, while the top speed remains at 200 km/h.
The renewal of the now Audi Q8 e-tron also brings news abroadhaving redesigned parts such as:
