Towards the end of 2021, the historical depreciation of the Turkish Lira has hit the automotive sector as well as every sector. The depreciation, which concerns all consumers, except those who earn their wages in dollars, increased the foreign currency at the same rate. Automobile prices peaked especially towards the end of November.
While the automotive market in November showed an increase of only 1% compared to the previous year, it reached a total of 675,107 units. Sedans accounted for 39% of the new sales, followed by SUVs with 35%. Vehicles with hybrid engine technology have already reached a market share of 9%. Cars with automatic transmission constituted 76% of the vehicles sold.
In December, Vakıfbank offered vehicle loans at a rate of 1.5%, followed by İşbank and Halkbank with a rate of 1.54%. In the most vicious campaign period of the last 20 years, it is observed that brands try to stay away from credit campaigns.
