This is what you should know about the Lamborghini movie

The story of how Ferruccio Lamborghini went from being a tractor manufacturer to a rival of Ferrari is practically known by any car fanatic. Book you take, will have some review about this episode. However, it is left to our imagination (and a few photos) about how that moment was lived. And we have to be very grateful that, in the cinema, from Ayrton Senna’s famous documentary onwards, a niche has been opened for fictional films about the motor world that help us to illustrate these tasty passages in the history of the car. We can talk about Rush, Ford vs Ferrari and also some docuseries that have appeared on online platforms, such as the life of Carlos Sainz, the history of the Williams F1 team, the rise and fall of Delorean and even the recent debut about Carlos Ghosn’s escape from Japan to Lebanon.

This same group will be joined by this film about the early years of Lamborghini, which has been in production since 2015, directed by Bobby Moresco and starring Frank Grillo and Gabriel Byrne. The script follows the events narrated in the book. “Ferruccio Lamborghini. The Official Story”written by Tony Lamborghinithe same son of Ferruccio, who gave his “blessing” to the film knowing that it would take his book as a base.

As collected by the site automotiveTonino noted about the book and the movie: “It is the only completely true text about my father’s real life, despite the numerous legends and anecdotes written or told by other people who seek their celebrity pinch. I really believe that this film can reflect in images and words the great Ferruccio’s humanity and transmit to viewers around the world the personality of my father: a man full of energy, charisma and passion”

a bit of history

Ferruccio Lamborghini was born into a family dedicated to wine and country life, but he was much more interested in working machines than country life itself, so he followed that path, studying mechanics and serving as such in the Italian Air Force.

After World War II he dedicated himself to modifying cars and the subject of tractors, which brought him enough money to indulge himself: sports cars. And though he had several, there was never one that came close to his vision, including those from Ferrari, which he always referred to as race cars, tamed for the city, but too raw to be enjoyed as such. And being a Ferrari customer, he took the relevant criticisms to Enzo Ferrari himself, in particular the clutch problems and the after-sales service; can you imagine how “Il Commendatore” he took it

And this was the engine for Lamborghini to make the decision to embark on building his ideal sports car. At the 1963 Turin Motor Show, he presented the prototype of the 350GTV. The chassis was designed by Dallara, the body was styled by Franco Scaglione and the engine, not yet installed, was a 3.5-liter V12, developed by Giotto Bizzarrini, with whom Lamborghini had many disagreements (Ferruccio wanted a more docile engine).

The model received improvements and was sold as the 350 GT between 1964 and 1966, being the first Lamborghini production car, born in the factory erected in Sant’Agata, a place that to this day remains the bosom of all Lamborghini. .

As will the turns of life, we are also waiting for the Ferrari film, directed by Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz, which is based on a period of crisis for Enzo, in family and work and how He bets everything on the Mille Miglia race to turn his fortunes around. Apparently, Lamborghini will beat Ferrari this time, as there is a release date for November 18 in some theaters. Meanwhile, we leave you the unmissable trailer of the film.
