We meet the Aiways U6 and analyze its design (on video)

When one hears Chinese cars one thinks of a copied car. That could be years ago. Now they come to surprise, as the Aiways U6 did after seeing it for the first time in Munich. Still standing still (we hope to drive it before it hits the market in early 2023), but we’ve been able to see huge differences from the Aiways U5 we tested.

The U6 is the coupé version, built on the same modular platform. And we find many novel aesthetic solutions, something surprising in this Shanghai brand, which was unveiled just four years ago. And it is that it has numerous changes, beyond the rear with a more pronounced fall. Better to see it on video than to tell you about them one by one, right?:

All the changes improve its aerodynamics, with a cW value of 0.248, while the Aiways U5 announces 0.29. And inside, numerous changes. In a very large space, it has a 14.6-inch central screen for the infotainment system and another very narrow one for the instrument panel, which shows the basic information. Of course, all eyes go to the center console, with a curious control for the transmission that simulates that of an airplane and is controlled like that of a motorcycle. The steering wheel is also different, with two spokes and slightly flattened at its base.

Eager to try it on the go, since its weight (1,790 kg) is lower than that of most electric SUVs on the market and with 160 kW (214.5 hp) and 315 Nm of torque, hence its performance should be better . It initially arrives on the market with a 63 kWh capacity battery pack, with which it announces 400 km of autonomy.
