‘Smiley’, the new romantic comedy from Netflix will be released on December 7 and the platform has presented the protagonists Álex and Bruno who are brought to life by Carlos Cuevas (‘Merlí’) and Mike Esparbé (‘Kings of the Night’). The story of ‘Smiley’ begins when Álex (Carlos Cuevas) sends a voice message to a boy he had been dating for a few weeks and who has disappeared doing a manual ghosting. The problem is that he sends the message wrong, not at all friendly, and it reaches Bruno (Miki Esparbé) and the consequences are most unexpected. That innocent first mistake is the first of a chain of events that will change the lives of Álex and Bruno forever.
The series is a adaptation of the play of the same name by Guillem Clua, which the author and showrunner defines as “the greatest love story that has ever lived.” The show began its journey in 2014 and since then it has not stopped, having several international productions. Clua himself continues to explain about his creation that “as often happens with love stories, it started with something very small and has grown over the years” until it became something that has changed his life.
