The company is using quite a large amount compared to its other competitors.
Electric car manufacturer Tesla has been showing pretty good sales success lately. Especially the increase in fuel prices and the incentives given by the states to electric cars led users to buy electric vehicles. This situation was reflected in Tesla’s sales, like many other manufacturers.
According to the information provided by Adamas Intelligence, September was the best month for the company. Globally, 190,255 deliveries were made this month. From January 2021 to September 2022, Tesla delivered approximately 1,848 million all-electric cars.
With these sales, Adamas Intelligence calculated how much battery capacity the company uses. According to the calculations, 13.9 GWh of battery usage was realized only in September of 2022. This equates to 73 kWh per vehicle on average.
The battery capacity of the company’s vehicles varies between 60 – 80 and 100 kWh. In the period from January 2021 to September 2022, Tesla apparently used 132.9 GWh of batteries. This equates to about 71.9 kWh per car.
In addition to these studies, Adamas Intelligence also compared the company to another electric car manufacturer, BYD. The company, which sells hybrid and all-electric cars in about half, used 6.7 GWh (34.8 kWh per vehicle) in September 2022 and 65.6 GWh (37.1 kWh per vehicle) between January 2021 and September 2022.
