A few months ago I told you about the good progress that Volkswagen is maintaining in its offensive in electrical matters, back then the GTX and the ID were added. Buzz, electric models that, according to the ACCELERATE strategy, would reinforce said offensive. Well, recently, the Wolfsburg house has exceeded the delivery target well ahead of schedule.
Half a million units sold around the world mean absolute success for Volkswagen not only for everything that is involved in starting a project of this magnitude from scratch, but for everything that surrounds it; Let’s remember that the brand came from the scandalous Diesel gate, which also brought a considerable drop in global sales; then the COVID 19 pandemic and its related consequences were added: production stoppages, component shortages, logistics delays, etc.

even with everything, we must acknowledge that Volkswagen has persevered, as stated by Imelda Labbé, Member of the Board of Sales, Marketing and After Sales:
“Our approach has not changed: we want to make Volkswagen the most desired brand for sustainable mobility. We are doing our best to deliver orders for approximately 135,000 ID.s to our customers as quickly as possible. However, due to the persistently tense situation regarding the supply of parts, we have to repeatedly adjust production.”
In the meantime, ACCELERATE maintains its course and what follows in this strategy will be:
- 10 new electric models will arrive in 2026
- In 2030, electrified models will represent 70% of the brand’s sales in Europe
- By 2033, Volkswagen will only sell electric models in the old continent
- The MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) platform remains the vertical axis of ACCELERATE for the ID family.
